One phone. One secret word.
A free impostor word game with friends
A free word game for an evening with friends. Everyone knows the word. Except the impostor. Give a clue, protect the secret, and find who is bluffing. No downloads. No accounts. Just play.
How a round works
01
Add players
Enter at least three names. Remove the last name if you make a mistake.
02
Pick a category
Choose one word list for the round, from places and food to party topics.
03
Set the round
Keep the suggested impostor count or change it. Use a 1–5 minute timer, or turn it off.
04
Reveal in private
Each player holds the screen to see a word or the impostor role, then passes the phone.
05
Talk, then vote
Someone who knows the word gives the first clue. Then the group votes for one suspect.
How many people you need
Start with 3 or more players on a single shared screen. The game suggests how many impostors to use, and you can change that number before the roles are dealt.
| Players | Suggested impostors |
|---|---|
| 3–6 | 1 |
| 7–9 | 2 |
| 10 or more | 3 |
What you can change
- Twelve word categories, including Places, Food, Jobs, Animals, Sports, and Party Mode.
- One impostor, or more, as long as at least one player still knows the word.
- A timer of 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 minutes. Two minutes is the default.
- No timer at all. Vote whenever the group is ready.

Why groups pass this around
One phone is enough
Everyone uses the same screen. There is no room code and no second device.
It starts immediately
No account, no email, and no download. Open the page and add names.
Rounds stay short
A timed round is a few minutes of hints, then one vote.
The word stays hidden
A player has to hold the screen to see a role. Letting go covers it before the phone is passed.
Common questions
Is this impostor game free?
Yes. You can play a full round in the browser with no account and no payment.
Do we need more than one phone?
No. This is the same pass-the-phone game as the iOS app. Each person checks a role privately, then hands the phone on.
How do you win?
The group votes for one player. If that player is an impostor, the players win. If that player knew the word, the impostor side wins. With several impostors, finding any one of them is enough.
Who should start talking?
The game picks a random player who is not an impostor and shows that name when the discussion begins.
